(25News Now) - The Illinois State Amateur golf tournament teed off at Bloomington Country Club on Tuesday.
Pekin’s Mason Minkel had a strong showing, firing a two-under 68 and is tied for fourth after the first round as is El Paso-Gridley product and former Bradley golfer Michael Mounce. Bloomington High School grad and Illinois State golfer T.J. Barger followed up qualifying for the US Amateur last week with a solid round of his own, shooting one-under 69 and tied for 9th place. Will Stewart from Lake of the Hills, IL is the leader at -6.
Elsewhere, Normal West hosted their second 7-on-7 summer football outing of July.
